# Hologram Fan Setup Guide: Mounting, App Pairing and First Upload

By SpinnyAd Team. Updated September 30, 2026.

Mounting, pairing the app, switching the menu to English and uploading a loop. Also the four things that go wrong and how to fix them.

SpinnyAd fans arrive set to English, updated and loaded with your content, so most of this guide is about mounting and adding your own videos later. If you bought a fan elsewhere, the steps are the same; the menus just look different.

## 1. Choose the spot

- Viewer distance: 16.5 inch fans read from 10 feet, 20 inch from 15 to 20 feet, 25.6 inch from 30 feet.

- Background: a dark or mid-tone wall behind the fan. Avoid a bright window directly behind it.

- Light: normal room light is fine; direct sun on the blades is not.

- Reach: above 6.5 feet, or inside an acrylic cover, in any space with customers.

- Power: an outlet within 6 feet, or an extension run you can secure.

## 2. Mount it

**Wall bracket (included):** hold the bracket level, mark two holes, drive screws into a stud or use the included anchors in drywall. Hang the fan on the bracket and tighten the locking screw. Give it a gentle tug.

**Desktop stand:** assemble the upright to the glass base, attach the fan mount, and set the tilt so the display faces the viewer. Keep the base fully on the surface.

**Floor stand:** open the tripod, raise the column to eye level, and lock each section before attaching the fan.

## 3. Power on and pair the app

- Plug in the adapter. The fan spins up in a few seconds and plays the loaded content.

- On your phone, open Wi-Fi settings and join the network named after the fan model. The default password is printed on the quick start card.

- Open the app. The fan appears on the device list. Tap it.

- If any menu is not in English, open settings (gear icon) and change the language. SpinnyAd fans are already set.

## 4. Upload a video

- In the app, choose Upload or Add Media and pick an MP4 from your phone.

- The app converts it to the fan’s format. A 15 second clip takes about a minute.

- Set the playlist order and loop, then tap Play.

For the settings that make videos look right (black background, square frame, bitrate), read the [video format guide](https://spinnyad.com/guides/hologram-fan-video-format/).

## 5. Set the schedule

Most apps have an on/off timer. Set it to match your hours so the fan is not spinning overnight for nobody. SpinnyAd fans ship with the timer off; set it once and forget it.

## The four common problems

**Nothing happens when I plug it in.** Check that the adapter light is on and the barrel plug is fully seated. Try another outlet. If the adapter light is off, contact support for a replacement adapter.

**The image is dim.** Direct light on the blades, a bright background, or brightness set low in the app. Move it or turn the brightness up.

**The image is blurry or muddy.** The video has a non-black background or too much detail. Use content built for the format.

**Rings or bands in the image.** A loose blade or dirty hub sensor. See the FAQ above.

## Questions we get asked

### The app is in Chinese. How do I change it?

On most fan apps the language toggle is on the settings screen behind the gear icon, usually the last or second-to-last item. SpinnyAd fans ship already set to English. If yours did not, contact us and we will walk you through it on the phone.

### My phone will not connect to the fan's Wi-Fi.

The fan broadcasts its own Wi-Fi network. Join that network in your phone's Wi-Fi settings (not through the app), then open the app. Turn off mobile data if the phone keeps jumping back to cellular.

### The video plays but has colored rings or bands.

Rings across the image usually mean a loose blade or a dirty sensor. Power off, check that each blade is seated and the screws are snug, and wipe the small sensor near the hub. If the rings persist on every video, contact support; it is covered under warranty.
